This song holds a very special place in my heart, and I thought the best way to express that would be to try covering it in my own style.
I used the SV-1 with one oscillator tuned up a fifth, and fed that into the TRSHMSTR to emulate a distorted guitar. The 0-Coast works as a bass, and I did drums using LM1 samples on the Digitakt. For Laura Jane Grace's voice I did a theremin style patch with the Dreadbox Nyx. While the original song does not contain a keyboard part, I added a Juno style pad with the Prologue for added texture.
Finally I used this song as an opportunity to refine my process of recording to tape. I found better results by dropping the input gain slightly, running the tape at a faster 7.5 IPS, and lowering the bass and boosting the treble parts on the way in.
